to see
In Vienna , the Congress was said to have had good time in 1814- 15. In Prague nobody will be bored at anytime.
On the Czech capital's coat of arms, the motto is clear: "Praga caput regni", Prague head of empire. If the Czech Republic is very young , having emerged from the former Czechoslovakia in 1993, it's capital Prague is more than a thousand years older beginning its life around the Prague Castle in 870 and has played an important role in the history not only in the Czech country but in Europe.
"Crown of the world", "stone dream", "city of hundred spires", Prague has always been one of the most beautiful cities of the world and prominent international personalities and artists have paid homage to Franz Kafka'city, Kundera, Dvorjak, Smetana.
Listed in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage after having been one of the nine cities European Cities of Culture of the year 2000, Prague represents a unique collection of historical monuments dominated by the Castle which towers high above the city till 880. Most of the monuments, museums and galleries are concentrated in the historical core which merges all architecture styles. It is situated on both banks of the river Vltava (also known as Moldau in German) and is generally divided in six parts: Stare Mesto (Old Town), Josefov (the preserved part of the former Jewish Town - today part of the Old Town), Nove Mesto (New Town), Mala Strana (Lesser Town), Hradcany and Vysehra d (literally, "castle on the heights"), sister to Prague Castle .
Visiting the Prague castle is interesting as much as walking along old shops and restaurants through the small narrow old streets going down to Charles Bridge . On the way visit the Lady's cathedral and some museums, look out to the colored roofs of the city from one or another garden. See the changing guard at the presidentiel palace, watch the numerous craftsmen and listen to very professional musicians playing popular tunes and songs around a puppet show in the streets... If you take a guide, ask for this specific way which goes straight to the bridge.
Named for the Emperor Charles IV, who had it constructed, Charles Bridge has been adorned during the centuries with numerous statues, and now the whole effect is breathtaking. Intended as a replacement for the crumbling Judith Bridge, it remained the only link between the separated halves of the city for hundreds of years.
