Alicante Novembert 2001
"It's Colorado here!" exclaimed an American golfer passing through Bonalba's golf course. Not far away went you look at the surroundings dry mountains. There is a certain sort of Grand Canyon environment but when turn back you see the blue Mediterranean sea.

More than 300 sunny days a year and an average temperature of 17° Celsius! The Costa Blanca is proud of having a better sunshine and a warmer sea than the Costa Brava, near the French coast or the Costa del Sol cooled by the Atlantic current. Nevertheless this country is less popular than the two others even that, out this exceptional climate, it has a lot of attractions: a local good cuisine, wonderful sites and beaches and a growing number of quality golf courses.

In fact, at less than one hour drive from the Alicante International Airport, twelve courses - eight having been opened during the last years - and a few more under construction will transform the Costa Blanca in a new sunny golf destination.

Since the Antiquity, the sky of Alicante is famous for his luminosity. One after the other, Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans settled their harbour in the bright city and nowadays American giants Paramount and Universal decided to create between Alicante and Benidorm one the most important thematic park called Terra Mitica. It just open the door and, following a survey of Warner Bros, more than three millions visitors a year will attend the park.

In fact, the whole country around Alicante has changed during the past decade with the construction of the highway A7 linking the south of Spain to Barcelona through the Costa Blanca.

If Alicante has renewed the old town with the old fortifications, conserved the traditional esplanada under the palm trees where the inhabitants come at nightfall to have a walk and suck a drink, the harbour has been completely redesigned with a new paseo, shops, pubs and restaurants where thousands people trip around until late in the night.

Under the Santa Barbara fortifications, the old town has been renovated in the old style and it is a real pleasure to walk around at evenings and eat some tapas with a fresh beer under the trees of a little old square. Out off the city, new resorts have been built in many places along the white sandy beaches or around the old harbours and villages.
