Informations

So that, nowadays more than a dozen golf
courses have been opened in this country during the last decade
and some more are in construction. And they are open all year
long due the very mild climate of the Costa Blanca.
- Bonalba, San Juan, El Plantio and Alenda are located around
the city of Alicante;
- La Sella, Javea, Ifach, Don Cayo and the two Terra Mitica
courses are located north along the highway to Valencia;
- La Marquesa, Vilamartin, Las Ramblas and Campoamor are in the south along the highway to
La Manga and Murcia.
Near Alicante
Bonalba
A triumphal arch gives entry to this golf course, which was one, the first opened in the
near surroundings of Alicante. It is located at a few minutes from the International
Airport along the highway to Valencia. Bonalba is not only known for the quality of the
course (the Spanish Golf Federation uses it regularly for his pro championship) but also
for his wonderful views from different holes over Alicante, San Juan and the seashore and
for his equipment and facilities (apartments, pools, special golf school and training for
juniors and seniors, thalassotherapy
).

The
luxurious resort built in a coloured Spanish style around the golf course is also a
success of quality where foreign golfers are welcomed all year around by a specific local
organisation dedicated to golf: Premier Residencial. For more information see article:
Bonalba.
Alicante-Golf
This Severiano Ballesteros designed golf course has been opened by Seve himself in 1998.
It is a 6 par-3, 6 par-4 and 6 par-6 "to allow to amateurs players to score more
easily according to their handicap" as the master says. Located in the urban complex
of the San Juan seaside, it is the nearest course from Alicante and therefore very
crowded.
El Plantio is more a golf school and
training place located at the door of the Airport. It has a compact 18-holes and a covered
practice, which is very convenient in the hot season. In the future a championship
18-holes of 6.148 meters will complete this complex.
At 15 kms east along the highway to Madrid,
Alenda golf course on the community of Monforte
del Cid is a championship 18 hole (a second 18 holes is under
construction). Built on a hill surmounted at the top by one
of the famous Osborne black bull, the view over Alicante seashore
is more and more impressive as you are climbing from hole
to hole to the one which is quite under the bull.
North of Alicante
La Sella golf course is a championship 18-holes nearby
Denia at less than an hour drive from Alicante. Located in a mountainous circa at the foot
of the Montigo National Park, the course slaloms part in a pine forest, part in an orange
field.
