Rapallo Golf Club, at 25 kms south east from Genoa, has its entry at 800 m from the A12 motorway exit to Rapallo and is located at just a few minutes drive from Portofino.

Founded in 1931, Rapallo GC is one of the oldest courses in Italy. It's located in the hills of the Italian Riviera at an altitude of 50 m with a lovely art deco clubhouse. The Ligurian mountains which surround the course protect it from the winter cold winds and the vicinity of the Mediterranean sea bring the mild breeze in the winter time and a fresh breeze in summer time.

On a technical point of view, the 18 holes of the course are slaloming along the hilly environment and over or along three small stream rivers offering a large diversity of enjoyable difficulties and view points. It's a tight Par 70 (front 9 36, back 9 34) with some very spectacular tees!

Most of the holes are tree lined and demand pinpoint accuracy and if water hazards put you off your swing, there is a rather wide river that comes into play & quite often! (There is an old man and his dog, who for a small fee, will try and find your ball!).

The first 5 holes are played 'in the hills' and the 3rd (par-4) has the river (un-sighted) to traverse just before the green. If elevated tees are your thing, Rapallo is your place. The 14th par-3 has to be the hardest hole. 'On the button' has to be the phrase here. You tee off from an elevated tee, across a gully and onto a postage stamp green. Before the green are terraced bunkers. One to get the heart going.

The 13th (par-4 dogleg right) screams for the driver! Makes you want to hit the perfect drive. And to finish the day off, the 18th. Another Par 3, elevated of course, over the river and when you tee up, you can believe that this time it's a hole in one!

"Again one of the most enjoyable courses I've played", writes a golftrotter, "and please don't look at my handicap and think 'Oh yeah!' I've taken golfers of many years with handicaps as low as 3 or 4 and they've had the time of their lives!!"

Power cart are available and helpful when it goes uphill! season.
And do take your handicap card, they will ask for it.
