Where to stay (2)
- Agadir
After
the earthquake and the rebuilding of the new Agadir, The Kasbah,
holiday village of white and blue bungalows built in the shade
of eucalyptus, palm trees, tamarisks or bushes of boungainvilleas,
was one of the first tourism complex to open. Becoming part
of Accor Group under the brand of Coralia, the village has
been improved and modernized year by year and is still a favourite
accommodation for people who like sport and want to stay near
the beach and at walking distance from the centre of the city.
Activity leaders ensure a balance between friendly group festivities
and privacy, in the spirit of freedom that reigns at Coralia.
Festive activities emphasise the host country through thematic
evenings, lectures, concerts and exhibitions featuring local
artists. Dining at Coralia means enjoying meals at your own
pace, according to your particular tastes, whenever, however
and with whomever you wish. At Coralia, you will discover
new and local cuisines.
Two gourmet restaurants – open to outside customers
– provide seafood and crayfish (veru tasteful grilled
squillfish or big prawns) in La Langouste but couscous or
local tajines in the other one.

El Jadida
The
construction of El Jadida hotel and golf has been decided
in the years 1990 by the local maritime authorities who wanted
to promote tourism in the neighbourhood of the former Mazagan
port which the Lyautey Marshall called “ the Moroccan
Deauville”. It is located at a few kilometres from the
old city on the edge of an eucalyptus forest planted in 1930
by French colonists along the seashore to stabilize the sand
dunes. Nowadays it is one of the most attractive golf resort
at less than an hour drive from Casablanca international airport.
Located next to the golf course which is considered as one
of the best in the country, the Sofitel Royal Golf
El Jadida has been built in a typical Moorish style
around a large outside pool along the seashore. It offers
117 rooms including 10 suites having or balcony or generous
terraces and are decorated in blue and ochre to complement
the natural environment. Sauna, hammam, massage, gym…
are open to the residents. The “Mazagan” restaurant
opens its picture windows to the pool and serves international
cuisine whilst the “Al Jawhara restaurant”, typically
Arabian Nights decorated, offers Moroccan delights for the
pleasure of those who like it. The piano-bar is the reproduction
of the very special architecture of the famous El Jadida old
Portuguese water citern. But serves also other drinks!
Dining out. At Ben Ali restaurant on the left side just at
the entry in the city of El Jadida. It is a casual bistro
style but seafood and fish are fresh and the service is cool
and friendly while the restaurant overlokks the beach.
