Golf in Mexico is not a young sport, since it is already a century old, although it has been a bit of a late starter. After being an exclusive sport for many years, it expanded considerably over the past three decades, particularly during the last ten years, at least partly as a result of the worldwide boom in this sport. Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine new tourist resorts or urban complexes in Mexico without at least one golf course.
One of the advantages of Mexican golf courses is that they are set in spectacular scenery, whether they are located in private clubs in Nuevo León, Jalisco or Mexico City or in luxurious beach resorts.
Cancún, Huatulco, Acapulco, Ixtapa, Puerto Vallarta, Punto Mita, Manzanillo, Isla Navidad and Los Cabos all boast superb golf courses. Together they have made Mexico one of the best places in the world for golf.
