MAURITIUS
Greens on the Indian Ocean : East coast

- Le Touessrock Hotel and Golf Resort, *****

Member of the Leading Hotels of the World, the Touessrock (all is rock in creole) is located nearby the village of Trou d'Eau Douce on the East Coast at 45 kms from airport and 35 from the capital Port Louis . It is part of a luxurious and unique resort near the 100 ha of the Ile aux Cerfs where to find the eponymous golf course.
Build like a Mediterranean village, the resort has an exotic charm with its small private island linked to the continent by a wooden bridge.

The resort offers 159 rooms, 37 junior suites and 4 senior suites one being royal. All have balconies or terraces open to the seaside. Immense turning around pool, land and sea sports equipment, diving, fishing, sea tours...

Les Paillotes, the French restaurant is elegant; Gianino serves Italian specialties and Safran a traditional Northern Indian cuisine (look at the wonderful ceiling frame made of exotic woods). Breakfast and diner (or theme) buffets at the main restaurant Passerelle.

Cabaret and live music over the pool (sometimes a bit too loud for the dining people at Safran who don't hear each other!)

Mangénie is another island, sort of Robinson Crusoe' heaven where to find fresh seafood feet-the-sand at the Robinson's Table.

The Touessrock Golf Course
is five star 18-holes of ocean views. It is one of these unique courses in the world which has been ranked No. 10 in the top 100 Courses by Golf World magazine. Even linked to the Touressrock Hotel, it is a public course located on the Ile aux Cerfs, just 1 km off the shore of Trou d'Eau Douce. Transfers by speedboat are available every 20 minutes (10 minutes transfer time.)

This 18 holes course par-72 of 6,476-metre was designed by Bernhard Langer and has its own David Leadbetter Golf Academy . The Ile aux Cerfs island is a just perfect topography for a golf with its coastline made of little bays, inlets and promontories - natural undulating topography, volcanic rock outcrops, lakes and gullies, and a profusion of tropical trees and plants with a lot of sea breathtaking views The island is a perfect natural setting for this spectacular course but, for beginners, it could be very frustrating as already the first drive has a carry of about 100m over a ravine. Forgetting the trees, the mangrove, the bunkers, the up-and-downs and. the winds! Anyway, stock up with balls! But what a spectacular challenge!
