- Where to play

For the time being, there are more than half a dozen of courses which are open to players from Petchaburi to Hua Hin along route 4. Some of them are Japanese dedicated like the Majestic Creek or the Sawang.

The Royal Hua Hin Golf Club, first open in 1924 is the oldest in the region and, testament of its age, its club-house is adjacent to the old railway station. The 18th hole is one to behold for the Thai Temple in the background.

The Bangkok Golf Milford, designed by Robert McFarland, is the only one near the seashore thus has a feel of a "links".

But the most manicured are certainly the 27 holes of the Imperial Lake View Hotel & Golf Club, located in the plain between the route 4 and the chain of hills which mark the Thai-Burmese border. Large but embossed fairways are undulating between palm trees and gorse of water hazards and greens are sometimes hidden behind the bumps. The stroke-saver booklet is very useful, out of the par-3 14th where players tee off from a small island to another small island over 207 yards of water.

There are a lot of accommodation of all categories which have raised during the past years all along the eastern coast beaches.

The Regent Cha Am Beach resort at Cha Am, nearby Hua Hin, is one of the numerous hotels recently built along the beach where one can directly go from the room to the sea. It's really appreciable to take an early morning or an after golf dip in the sea water.

For those who like souvenir, they have to stay at the Sofitel Central which is the new name (and the modern comfort standard) of the historic Railway Hotel, just nearby the Royal Hua Hin Golf Club in the center of Hua Hin.

And for those who prefer to stay on the golf course, an hotel with 75 spacious and comfortable suites and rooms is available in the Imperial Lake View Golf Club resort with lush gardens where golfers can enjoy breakfast and lunch while the Watering Hole serves elegant gourmet cuisine before going singing at the Karaoke Room. The hotel has also tennis, squash, pool, snooker, children's room and meeting facilities.
