SCOTLAND
Highlands'golf with Harry Potter's train

- Where to play (2)

Isle of Skye is very popular to Scottish golfers who come here to find a natural environment with winds, midst and wild beauty.

- Isle of Skye Golf Club , established in 1964 at Sconser, is situated in the centre of the Island on A87, halfway between Broadford and Portree 20 miles from the Skye bridge. It is a seaside course with spectacular views of the Isle of Raasay and North Skye . Nine hole course with 15 tees means that most holes have a different approach and length second time around giving an 18-hole feel to the layout. The layout is ideal for golfers of all ages and abilities.

- The 9-hole Skeabost Golf is property of the Skeabost Country House Hotel which stands within large private grounds at the edge of Loch Snizort. The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding Scottish highlands and visiting the many local attractions in Skye including Dunvegan Castle and Faerie Glen.

- Where to stay

- Portree : Bosville Hotel & restaurant
Along Bosville Terrace overlooking the harbour of Portree, the Bosville Hotel is a charming 4 stars which offers “stress free” accommodation in totally refurbished rooms. And it is quiet even if the restaurant, The Chandlery, is full because its chef John Kelly has a very good reputation. Seafood from the day, fresh game and meats, daily vegetables and fruits, are transformed into tasty Scottish dishes with a touch of French cuisine. Try the Skye salad from the “Earth & Sea” and the Pan roast fillet of organic salmon! A delight!

-Invernes : Royal Highland Hotel
Located at Academy Street, near the station, in the centre point of the city, the Royal Highland Hotel has recently been completely refurbished and is looking better than ever. A unique marriage of historical majesty and grandeur with that special brand of modern hospitality.

Recommendation : There are a lot of charming hotels in Scotland as in the whole UK, nestled in real old houses or farms very well renewed with comfortable and modern equipments and they are worth their 3 or 4 tourism stars. But mainly in those charming hotels, the staircase is narrow and steep which is not very convenient for heavy luggage, old legs or handicapped persons. So be careful and ask for all details before booking.

Food - Traditional Scottish cuisine depends on indigenous products, such as root vegetables (potatoes, turnips, carrots), barley, oats, mutton and seafood such as haddock and also the famous haggis. But visitors can also enjoy very high quality food alike Aberdeen Angus beef or Highland venison prepared by young chefs which have been trained by big names and have created imaginative menus. The normal Scottish breakfast includes: sausage, bacon, egg, black pudding and tomato and is served with juice, toasts and preserves.

Eating out - Opened in 2001, The Mustard Seed has rapidly established a reputation for itself as one of the region's most successful restaurants. Voted 'Restaurant of the Year - Inverness and Highlands' for the 2001/2002 season, The Mustard Seed has proven to be a success with visitors to the town and local residents. 16 Fraser Street, IV1 1DW, tel: 01463220220
