Carmelo, best resort in South America?

- Where to stay

- at Carmelo, the Four Seasons Golf Resort

Elegant golf resort located in the countryside under the foliage of eucalyptus and pine trees along the sandy beach of the Rio de la Plata at 70 kms from Colonia Town, the *****Carmelo Four Seasons Hotel is a place for the most exigent golfers.
As said the golf course is first class and the hotel has the touch of class. The Balinese style of the architecture made of wood structures fits very well with the natural environment. The interior design has been influenced by cultures from around the globe and South Americans products and accessories from Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina and Chile have been introduced in the decoration.
The resort features 20 bungalows with private gardens and 24 cathedral-ceiling bi-level suites. Each bungalow and suite has a florished outdoor patio, a wood-burning place, oversized whirpool tib and slate showers, double sinks and separate bathroom. Beautiful South American Lapacho and Viraro woods have been used to cover the walls and the furniture pieces. Each room has satellite TV, CD player, expresso machine, etc.. and during the colder months, the staff lights each guest’ fireplace.
For dining, the resort offers several options. The Pura Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s the resort’s main dining room where to have at the barbecue an asado of the famous Argentinian beef but also fine cuisine of local fresh seafood or delicate Asian dishes. Very good Uruguayen and South American wine list. Mandara Restaurant open for lunch and diner features Italian cuisine. The Lobby Lounge in front of the reception desk is the place to have a drink and sit to watch the sunset on the Rio de la Plata. Coffee, tea and afternoon scones are served at the Shiva Lounge. Private diners or cocktails can be arranged at Gazebo to enjoy the sunset and barbecues can take place at the “Estancia”. Last but not least, on the beach along the Rio de la Plata, there is a special crowned booth dedicated to honeymooners.
The outdoor swimming pool is a popular relaxation destination as is the resort's full service spa. In fact Four Seasons has a spectacular 800 m² spa based on the ancient principle of the Yin and Yang with soothing water pools and fountains, a gymnasium, sauna, meditation room and juice bar. Hydrotherapy, body treatments… Discover the Carmelo Relaxation and Silkwine treatment.

-at Punta del Este , l’Auberge

There are palaces in Punta del Este, but l’Auberge with its 10 floor belfry Normandy style and its antique furniture pieces is a charming place with an exceptional view from the highest floors. Considered by many to be Punta del Este's finest hotel, L'Auberge is a unique five-star hotel located in the exclusive Parque del Golf neighbourhood. Renowned for its unique architecture (it was formerly a water tower), the hotel occupies a whole block and is surrounded by 10,000 m2 of parkland. As well as an attractive outdoor pool and grill area, the hotel is famous for its homemade charcoaled waffles served (with dulce de leche for those who like it ) in its Tea Salon overlooking the garden.
