If Pinehurst was born just when the 20th Century begun, Grandover has arrived a century later with the new Millennium. Located nearby Greensboro and High Point (the furniture capital of the World), the opening of Grandover Resort and Conference Center turns on a new age in golf resort in the Heartland of North Carolina. It is a real remarkable impression to discover the high European castle style hotel rising above the Carolina foothills.
It is sort of The Breakers at Palm Beach with a small difference: from the top of the Breakers one overlook the Atlantic oceanfront; from the top of Grandover, peak point in the country, one overlooks the Sandhills forests 360° around.
Two championship golf courses have been built at the door of the hotel. They have been designed by David Graham, winner of the US Open and the PGA Championship, and Gary Panks, golf architect known for his award-winning courses in Scottsdale (AZ), in Canada, Thailand and Australia. If the West course has been ranked in 4th place among the "Best Conditioned Courses in America", both courses, East and West, provide spectacular golf. With their immaculate fairways and undulating bentgrass greens, holes are slaloming over stone and old-fashioned wood covered bridges, on the 1,500 acres of oak, pine and dogwood covered hills, shared with deer, foxes and raccoons assuring that golfers are in the Carolinas, America's heartland of golf. Holes have been set strategically on the rolling terrain among hardwoods, sand traps, lakes and streams so that each hole has its personality. Four sets of tees on every hole allow players of every level to enjoy the courses.
Ken Venturi, winner of the PGA Player of the Year (1964), golf analyst for CBS, and one of the premier instructor in the game of golf, shares his knowledge at the Ken Venturi golf Academy. Golfers at all skill levels can develop or improve there a more competitive or enjoyable game in just 3 days.

The centerpiece of Grandover is an 11-story building that houses 247 guestroom and conference and dinning facilities. The architecture and interiors at Grandover Resort and Conference Center depict a grand European style castle. The elegant lobby evokes an Old World feel, with a contrasting floor pattern of Italian travertine, Tasmanian gold limestone and black granite, combined with large columns of Spanish marble. Original oil paintings show a variety of historic life in the grand old hotels of Europe. The exteriors utilized brick and Tennessee field stone.
Guestrooms are spacious and mostly have panoramic views of the golf courses and the resort's landscape and from the balconies of the eleventh-floor suites there is a dramatic overlook of the Heartland. Tennis, racquetball, swimming pool, spa facilities, Swedish massages complete the guests comfort.
Di Valetta, the elegant Maltesian decorated restaurant with views of the East golf course serves traditional and continental fine cuisine with a choice of specials inspired by Mediterranean or Cajun recipes. Large choice of Californian and international wines.
Amateurs of strong and short Italian coffee will be delighted to find their choice at the Cafe Expresso located in the Club-House serving also snacks and sandwiches on the terrace in front of the golf courses. And drinks can also be enjoyed before or after diner in the comfortable club chairs before the two enormous hewn stone fireplaces.

The area provides also a large choice of attractions: see polar bears at the North Carolina Zoological Park, choose a dining or a sleeping room at the "furniture capital of the World" nearby High Point, enjoy a cultural event or an opera at the Greensboro Coliseum, shopping at the Four Seasons Town Center or make fun of antiques or unusual gifts at State Street Station.
Grandover Resort is a really great and modern golf destination.
