a_ico_fleche.gif (102 octets) Where to stay :

Budget travellers tend to congregate around the Pham Ngu Lao area at the western end of District 1. Cholon has plenty of cheap rooms, but Western backpackers are rare here. Travellers with a little more cash prefer the more upmarket hotels concentrated around Dong Khoi at the eastern side of District 1. Central Saigon is the best place to look for fine Vietnamese and Western food, while Cholon's speciality is Chinese food.

Sofitel Plaza Saigon
Open in 1998, this deluxe hotel, managed by the leader Accor Group, is ideally located on historical Le Duan Boulevard, right in the heart of the city. Since its opening, it has been regularly awarded "Best Business Hotel in Vietnam".

Standing next to the Britsih and Us conulates, the hotel is within easy walking to the Reunification Palace and the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral. This modern elegant hotel is a perfect base from which to enjoy the vibrant city and its very special blend, heritage of traditional Vietnamese architecture and way of life and the residual French colonial style. And the view from the pool on the top of 18th floor is 360° around and is a good way to take a first panoramic contact with the city from a sky view.

The hotel offers 290 all comfort rooms including 11 suites and provides a fine art of cuisine in the Café Rivoli, international brasserie and buffet restaurant or at l'Olivier, fine Provencal food or Vietnamese specials. The two last floors are reserved for business men and the hotel provides there a special checking and information desk.

Saigon Novotel
Novotel Garden Plaza Saigon is strategically located near the fringe of the town centre in Nguyen Van Troi Street. Just a short drive from the Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Close to the Ho Chi Minh City International Exhibition Centre (HIECC), making us the choice hotel for visiting, exhibitions and business delegates.

Dining out:
To dine out, there are plenty of good restaurants in HCMC. We have appreciated particularly Vietnam House, an elegant restaurant located in the heart of the city on the central commercial street Dong Khoi with folk dance and Tib where it is possible to have a table on a outside terrace far from the air conditioning which is mainly too cold.
